Prabhas' new film begins shoot

It is known that Prabhas has a film scheduled with Koratala Shiva, the script-writer who is to a director with his film. The film, which is tentatively as Vaaradhi, started off yesterday and a few scenes were reportedly shot in at the Police Academy establishment in Hyderabad.

The film stars Anushka Shetty and Richa Gangopadhyaya in the leads. It is jointly produced by Pramod Uppalapati and Vamikrishna Reddy.

The star seems to have taken a break from his Rebel schedule. The high-profile film is also scheduled to release early next year. However, not much is heard about the movie these days. This owes to the fact that the makers are preferring to not go gung-ho creating a hype about the film. Nevertheless, the audience have full faith on the talent of both Lawrence Raghava and Prabhas, who are in their best form at present.

If Rebel becomes a hit, it would be a shot in the arm for Koratala Shiva.

Prabhas’s Rebel, whose final 70day long schedule was to start on November 5 hasn’t gone to floors even after November 15. The Project is in a total mess after differences erupted between the Producers, Director & Hero after replacing Anushka with Tamanna. The film, sources say will not have any schedules this year unless some one come forward to takeover the project.

The producers are already in discussions with Bellamkonda Suresh for a takeover proposal but he is too busy with Bodyguard and is going to wait and watch till Sankranthi gets over. Siddharth Rajkumar’s debut film ‘Keratam’ is being directed by Gautham Patnaik and produced by SV Babu under SV Productions banner. The grand audio launch was held at Shilpa Kala Vedika today, the 15th July. The guests include Krishnam Raju, Prabhas, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, Sagar, Siddharth Rajkumar, Dasarath, RP Patnaik, Bhimineni Srinivas Rao, Rakul Preeth Singh, SV Babu, SA Rehaman, Lakshman Narayana, AVS, Shilpa, Spoorthi, Kannada actor Jagadeesh, Venkatesh, Gautham Patnaik, Venu Madhav, AVS Raju, Yathiraj and others.

Dasarath launched the audio in microchip. On the other hand Prabhas released the audio through the pen drive. The audio CDs were released by Krishnam Raju and the first copy of it was received by Prabhas.

Later while speaking RP Patnaik said, “I composed music for Prabhas’s debut film ‘Eeshwar’. I’m very happy to note that my brother is getting introduced as director. My brother entered the film industry without my support and became director with determination. I was confident about his achievement. I was also introduced as director through this banner. I thank the producers for introducing my brother also.”

Prabhas said, “My uncle is the inspiration for all of us in our family. He is the king, diamond. At the time I entered the film industry, he advised me saying that hard work and good character are essential to come up in the film industry. Our entire family will be grateful to him. He said that he is a big fan of me. My fans are serving the society in the right manner and earned good name than other fans associations. I whole-heartedly thank all of them. When I visited Antharvedi, a few girls addressed me as Prabhas uncle. I’m very happy that Prabhas has grown to that extent. He has now reached a stage where I’m learning certain things from him. Prabhas and Anushka Shetty starrer romantic film 'Rebel' film unit is all set to go to Bangkok in August for shooting. This film is being directed by Larencce Ragava.

Prabhas is currently shooting at Aluminium factory in Hyderabad for this film.A few action sequences between Prabhas and the villain are being shot now in the city.

"Our film unit will go to Bangkok on August 5th and will remain there until September for shooting.We are planning to release 'Rebel' in December" said producer of the film J Bhagawan.

The movie is being made in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and if sources are to be believed the movie has already completed it's shoot. Gautam Patnaik, the director was an assistant director in MS Raju's unit, with this film he will mark his debut in Telugu. Currently the post-production work is on and the film is expected to be released in the month of June.

Darling Prabhas on Tuesday launched the special English issue of 'Superhit' magazine. This special issue comprises pictures and elaborate write ups from their recent Superhit award ceremony.

This 104 page special issue was launched at Prabhas' residence on Thursday. Director B Jaya, the owner of Superhit magazine and popular PRO B A Raju were present at the launch. This is the first ever time a Telugu film magazine has brought out a special collector's issue in English on an award ceremony.

"I have close relationship with Superhit magazine and its publishers Jaya and Raju.I saw my first film 'Eeshwar 'pictures on the cover page of Superhit magazine. Raju is close to my dad and my uncle Krishnam Raju since a long time. He has reliable information on the shares, trade reports et al.I appreciate the team for bringing out an English book on Superhit awards. I am amazed at the quality of this special issue" Prabhas said.

Rebel' Regular Shooting from 21st May

With the latest summer success Mr.Perfect, the Young Rebel Star Prabhas is jumping into the sets of his new film Rebel in the direction of Raghava Lawrence. The regular shoot of the film will begin from 21st May in Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. Anushka Shetty and Deeksha Seth are playing the female leads in the movie.

Producers J Bhagavan and J Pulla Rao, who are producing the movie, informed that Raghava Lawrence has prepared wonderful script for Prabhas and they further said that Rebel will be made with high technical and production values.

Dr Brahmanandam, Mukesh Rishi, Kelly Dorge, Shayaji Shinde, Aali, M S Narayana, Chalapathi Rao, Jayaprakash Reddy, Supreeth, Jeeva et al will play the other important roles in the movie.

Mr. Perfect is the biggest hit of this year till now. Lapped up by families and youngsters, this film went on to become the biggest ever hit in Prabhas’s career. The business has almost come to a close now and the trade analysts expect the film to cross Rs. 25 crore mark in full run.

Dil Raju and Prabhas banked on the formulaic family entertainer and it paid off big time as other big releases in the recent times failed miserably. Prabhas is back to winning ways now as he is consistently delivering good hits and so is Dil Raju.

Story

Vicky (Prabhas) believes that one should be oneself in a relationship and one shouldn’t change one's orientation for the sake of the partner. Vicky and Priya (Kajal Agarwal) are childhood friends and they like each other. Their parents want to marry them off. But Vicky feels that Priya is a not choice for him as she is willing to sacrifice all her comforts for him. Meanwhile, Vicky meets Maggy who has the same taste and lifestyle orientation. Both of them fall in love. The rest of the story is all about how Vicky realises that adjustment is the essence of any blissful relationship.

Artists Performance

Prabhas: Prabhas has a summer-cut hairdo in this film. His haircut looks odd at the beginning, but Prabhas manages to convince it as a part of characterization as the movie progresses. He used nice branded stuff and he looks like a perfect model for them. Prabhas has done a role that is never done by him in the past and he is very good.

Others: Kajal Agarwal is excellent as a traditional girl wearing sarees and Indian dresses most of the time. Tapsee looks different in this movie and she seems to have dubbed her own voice. Prakash Raj plays the role of a venture capitalist with fixed notions. The comedy by Brahmanandam, Master Bharat and Raghu Babu looks forced. The comedy thread of Kasi Viswanath and Sameer clicks. K Viswanath and other actors cast in a typical way.

Technical departments

Story - screenplay - direction: The story of the movie is about an independent guy realising that one should adjust in a relationship to live happily ever after. To create the conflict, the director has chosen two female characters - one lives for herself and the other one adjusts. Story line of the film is thin, but a sensible one. The story of Mr. Perfect looks like reverse-engineered from the story of Bommarillu with a characterization similar to Orange.There is no conflict point in the movie till the interval. The second half goes on a predictable lines. Karan Johar makes this kind of triangles with lot of sentiment thrown in towards climax. Dasarath who has gone sideways with his recent movies seems to have found the right producer this time. Direction by Dasarath is decent. However, the screenplay should have been innovative as the progression of the story is predictable.

Other departments: Music by Devi Sri Prasad is very good. I liked all the songs in the film except for dole dole song and last song (sent one). Background music is also good. I liked the choreography in Akasam song. Cinematography by Vijay K Chakravarthy is excellent. Cinematography of the film is aided by nice post-production (color grading and graphics) and superb locations. The locations of the movie - village locations (from Kerala) and Australian locations (Sydney Opera House and Sea Cliff Bridge, NSW) are well-captured. Art direction is very good. Dialogues by Abburi Ravi are fine. There are a few entertaining dialogues like ‘devudu sadist kaadu’ and ‘working from home’. Though fights composed by Peter Hein are good, there is no necessity for them in the story line. They were forced into the film because of Prabhas’s action image. Editing is alright. Production values by Dil Raju are of top standard as the each and every frame of the movie looks rich.

Analysis: First half of the film is okay though the conflict point is revealed only in the interval block. Second half is predictable with a sentimental climax. The plus points of the movie are casting (Prabhas, Kajal & Tapsee), production values, cinematography and music. The negative points are screenplay and handling of emotions. Dil Raju who has given trend-setting and path-breaking films like Arya and Bommarillu in the past seems to have chosen to play safe in the recent times with films like Brindavanam and Mr. Perfect. On a whole, Mr Perfect film is partly good and partly predictable.

Trade talk: This movie has started off really well as today is a national holiday (Good Friday). Producer Dil Raju sold out only few areas. The buyer of Krishna has bought this movie for 90 lacs and this movie is expected to collect 90 lac share in the first week and is poised to collect a total share of 1.5 cr in Krishna. Mr. Perfect has all the ingradients to attract youth and familes and is poised to cash the summer advantage in.

‘Rebel’ of Prabhas to go to sets from Jan 2

Choreographer turned director Lawrence is getting ready to direct Prabhas’ forthcoming film which was tentatively titled ‘Rebel’. As per the sources from Film Nagar, the film is most likely to be launched on January 2, as the strike in the Tollywood came to an end by now.

Glamour queen Anushka is going to pair up with Prabhas again after ‘Billa’ in this movie. J Bhagawan and J Pulla Rao are jointly producing the film on the banner of Sri Balaji Cine Media.

Presently, Prabhas is busy with his film ‘Mr Perfect’ directed by Dasarath, and produced by Dil Raju on the banner of Sri Venkateswara Creations. Kajal and Tapsee are pairing up with Prabhas in the female leads for ‘Mr Perfect’.

Grapevine about the film is that it is tentatively titled as 'Vishwamitra' and will be made with huge budget in the lines of 'Magadheera'. ‘Mr Perfect’ may not hit screen during Sankranthi

Produced by Dil Raju and directed by Dasarath of ‘Santosham’ fame, a romantic entertainer ‘Mr Perfect’ with Prabhas as hero, Kajal and Tapsee as heroines, was slated for release during Pongal as per the announcement of the producer.

However, the film’s release is likely to be postponed to the end of January or to early February due to the impasse in the Tollywood. The ongoing controversy and the clash between the Tamil and Telugu fighters resulted in halting of shootings.

The shooting of the balance film is likely to resume after the successful end of Tollywood strike and hence the postponement seemed to be inevitable, according to sources from Film Nagar.

It is learnt that Prabhas is playing a different role in this movie.

Darling Prabhas's upcoming film “Rebel” was launched today (02/12/2010) at Annapoorna Studios. Choreographer-turned-director Raghava Lawrence is directing this flick. J Bhagavan and J Pulla Rao are producing the film under Sri Balaji Cine Media banner. Anushka is paring opposite to Prabhas.

The shooting of Prabhas’ upcoming movie with producer Dil Raju is expected to be complete by December 15th. Talking to the media today, Dil Raju announced that Mr.Perfect has been chosen as the title of the movie.
